Products Of Interest: May 2013

1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Sci Fi Lullabie Lip Tar in Pris ($18): Pris is described as a "palest champagne metallic." Part of the sci-fi inspired collection, this lip tar is sure to impress as all lip tars do. I'm curious to try the metallic versions to see what kind of finish they give.

2. Ciate Chalkboard Manicure ($25): I've had my eye on this for some time. Something about the kit makes me want to bite the bullet and order one. I love the idea of releasing your inner child and doodling on your nails. The kit features black matte polish and chalk pens that can be used to draw on top.

3. Laura Mercier Baked Blush Bronzer in Ritual ($36): I'm obsessed with bronzer and I love that this product is a blush and a bronzer. Five complementary shades work together to create a perfect, natural color for cheeks and face. I can't wait to get my hands on this.

4. Guerlain 'Terra Ora' Powder Compact ($72): Guerlain summer bronzers are always gorgeous and so pretty that swatching them seems like a crime. I have yet to take the dive into a limited edition one (the price is a bit too steep for me) but this beauty may change my mind.

5. NARS ♥ New York Set ($75): The title of this palette drew me in (of course) and the shades are great for everyday. Laguna is one of my favorite bronzers and I can easily see myself using this palette over and over again.

6. ALTERNA Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Complete Correction ($25): The idea of a CC cream for hair is most intriguing and being that Alterna is one of my favorite hair brands, I know eventually I will have to try it. It's described as a miracle cream that perfects hair in 10 different and unbelievable ways. It provides moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability, and strength (woo). Gimme Gimme.

Any of these on your wish list?

I've got my eye on three products at the moment: Urban Decay's naked foundation, Ciate Nails velvet manicure & Lancome's hypnose star mascara. Urban Decay's naked foundation is said to be weightless and give a luminous finish. The velvet manicure from Ciate Nails (popular for their caviar manicure) promises luxury and innovation. I'm curious about the texture. Lancome's hypnose star mascara is inspired by Betty Boop. The formula gives a glossy gel-like finish and unique brush helps leaves lashes separated, defined and lengthened.

I'm always lusting after products and this month was no exception. Beauty products change with the season and the launches increase more and more. I indulged in a few of these this month and I'm already getting ready for Summer 2012 launches (I know!) I've got a ton of reviews lined up, so get excited. Also, if you haven't noticed -- My URL has changed. I'm officially www.beautyinnyc.com. Woo hoo. Thanks again for all the support. Xoxo.

1. Bare Minerals Ready SPF 15 Touch Up Veil: ($22): I'm curious how this product will work on my skin. I used bare minerals on my face for years and then grew tired of it. I've read some good reviews on their new pressed products. (eye-shadows, powders etc.)

2. Smashbox Be Discovered Eyeshadow Palette ($44): This palette reminds me of a Disney princess. I love how soft the colors look and how girly the packaging is.

3. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 ($39): The end of 2011 bought about the popularity of BB creams. Immensely popular in Japan, the cream has now become a go to item for many. When the creams first launched, they only came in one universal shade for light to deeper mediums. Now brands have gotten smarter and are launching different shades. I like that this Smashbox one has different shades and a fairly high SPF.

4. Sephora Prisma Chrome Eyeshadow ($15): These new eye-shadows from Sephora remind so much of the texture of Laura Mercier's best selling rose illuminater. I've seen them in person and they're gorgeous. The pigments are great and shadows can be used wet or dry. I haven't decided what colors I wanna pick up just yet.

5. Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cheek Palette ($45): I've become a huge fan of Tarina Tarantino's line this past year. All her products are insanely pigmented and the packaging is always sturdy and fun. I've become drawn to blush lately and these shades are perfection. I like the idea of a cheek palette from a well-known brand. I already own a cheek palette from Crown Brush, but this is calling my name.

6. Chanel Nail Colors from Spring 2012 Collection ($25 Each): I own tons of cosmetics, but Chanel is one that isn't really seen all that much in my collection. I find their prices to be very high and mostly cause of their name. I've stood away for a while but this new collection has me intrigued. I'm loving these nail colors (especially June, which is the orange-apricot color). I'm on the prowl for the perfect orange and I think I found it.

7. Too Faced Natural At Night Collection ($36): I'm always a fan of new launches from Too Faced. I especially like their palettes for the small size. I like the color range in the palette since it's not just boring browns, which I have a ton of.

8. Laura Mercier Radiance Primer ($30): Laura Mercier is a brand I keep coming back to for complexion products. I recently tried their hydrating primer for winter and quickly became obsessed. I like the idea of a radiance primer for the summer when I want more glow.

1. Nars Danmari All About Cheeks Palette ($65): I've been on the hunt for an awesome cheek palette, but it was either make my own or find a brand that has one that's worth my while. This palette from Nars looks AMAZING and comes with six shades: Hungry Heart, Super Orgasm, Desire, Casino, Orgasm & Sin. $65 also seems like a good deal considering their blushes/bronzers can run up to $27 to $33.

2. Tarte The Starlet Limited Edition Makeup Vanity ($52): I'm such a sucker for gorgeous packaging and this one definitely delivers. It's set up in a fancy mirror vanity box that contains 24 eye-shadows, 2 new amazonian clay blushes, bronzer, and shimmer powder. Hmph. I definitely see this in my future.

3. LORAC Bejeweled Day & Night Jewelry Box ($56): Lorac is one of my favorite brands, so it's easy for me to fall victim to any of their launches. All of their products are so easy to use and awesomely pigmented. Another victim of tempting packaging, this kit comes in a gorgeous dazzle box. It includes eye-shadows, blushes, a giant bronzer, glosses and eyeliners.

4. CK One Shock ($40-$50): I've never been a fan of the classic CK One even though it's the best selling unisex fragrance of all time. I'm into extremely sweet scents (EX: Flowerbomb, Hanae Mori etc.) but when I smelled CK One Shock the other day, I fell head over heels! It's note includes: Passion Flower, Pink Peony, Jeweled Poppy Flower, Liquid Chocolate Accord, Blackberry, Narcissi, Hypnotic Jasmine, Magnetic Ambers, Vanilla (yum!), Patchouli, & Second Skin Musk. The best part about CK One? It's one of the most affordable fragrances out there!

5. Tom Ford Beauty - Lip Color in Blush Nude ($48): The buzz of Tom Ford's new beauty line has got me wanting to spend some money! I've been eyeing the original lipsticks for months, but just can't seem to bring myself to drop almost $50 on a lipstick. I think I shall be caving shortly. This blush nude is calling my name. Have you seen the rest of the launches yet?!

6. Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous Face Illuminator ($42): I just love the look of this product. The 3D feel of it. I wonder how long the effect lasts. The shimmer looks gorgeous as well.

It's hard to keep up with the latest & greatest beauty products even as a blogger. I've decided to start a monthly section of this blog titled, Products of Interest that focuses on items that I've been eyeing and are considering purchasing. Here's my October list. I spy tons of new buys this month!

1. MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara ($19): As a glasses wearer on an everyday basis, I love the ad for this mascara. It definitely makes you want to run out and purchase this. I'm not crazy about MAC mascaras, but I'm considering buying this one.

2. Limited Edition Shu Uemura 24K Gold Eyelash Curler ($24): This cult favorite mascara now comes in gold! I recently was sent the original and it's one of the best I've ever used. If you don't own this yet, I definitely suggest you purchase.

3. Too Faced In Your Dreams Palette ($39): I'm obsessed  in love with the packaging on this palette and Too Faced cosmetics has some of the best pigments. For $39, this is a STEAL.

4. Benefit Watt's Up ($30): I've heard amazing things about this highlighter and I love the unique packaging. I'm curious about the blending part on the bottom. It's something I've never seen before.

5. Bite Limited Edition Luminous Creme Lipstick Set of 5 ($25): Bite Beauty is a huge hit at Sephora and came out with this limited edition set of mini lipsticks. It's super adorable and the colors look gorgeous. Never tried Bite? Learn more about them here.

6. Ultraflesh Gold Mascara ($26): I have the original Ultraflesh mascara and it's amazing, so why not try their new one?
