Hot Nail Trend Of The Moment -- Caviar Manicures From Ciate

A manicure good enough to eat? Okay. Not quite, but close enough. The hot nail trend of the moment are these caviar manicures. Caviar manicures are the first three dimensional nail kit of its kind. I've been seeing the photos floating around the internet and knew I just had to have them. The brand responsible for the creation? A company called Ciate that was seeking out to create 3D nails for a front cover magazine shoot and came up with this fantastic creation. The finished look appears posh, glamorous and innovative. I searched high and low to find this product in stock, but it's been sold out for a while now. Luckily for all us beauty junkies, it will soon be availiable in Sephora stores and on Sephora.com (hallelujah). I can't wait to try this out and I will definitely share as soon as I receive them. It looks fairly easy to apply especially since precision is not needed. Thank goodness cause I'm the absolute worst at painting my nails!

I'm not sure just yet when Sephora will begin to stock them, but if you visit the Ciate site, you can join the waiting list by providing your email. I'll share more information as I receive it.

The caviar manicures remind me of one of my favorite candy -- SNOCAPS! Also, obviously caviar.

Will you checking these caviar manicures out?

Pantone is the world renowned authority on color and they've chosen Tangerine Tango as the color of the year for 2012. Makeup brands are all over this trend especially Sephora who collaborated with Pantone on a few very special limited edition products such as eyeshadows, blushes, brushes, eyeliners and more. Incorporating this look into your own personal everyday day is as easy as adding a quick orange lipstick, a touch of eyeshadow or a pop of blush. Below are a few products to help you achieve any look to match this year's hottest trend.

Going Backstage at Costello Tagliapietra New York Fashion Week Show SS12

I had the amazing opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week two weeks ago and I couldn't have been more excited. I was invited to go backstage with Costello Taliapietra and see the makeup and hair trends come to life right before my eyes. I was joined by my lovely blogger dolls, Christine from The Tiny Tierant & Ashley from Ashley4Emergy.

If you've never heard of Costello Taliapietra, you have to check them out. The brand is sold at Barneys New York and specialty boutiques worldwide. Their designs are stunning and extremely wearable (which is always a plus!) In their Spring 2012 collection, we saw long sleeves, gorgeous plunging necklines, and lots of prints. Although the collection was for Spring, it actually reminded me of a gorgeous fall day full of leaves and the perfect wind. The colors seen were soft browns, coppers, rusted pinks, blues, greens and mauve.

Backstage was hectic and exciting, we were immediately introduced to the fantastic Deborah Lippman, who explained the inspiration for the nail colors chosen. Models wore one coat of Waking Up In Vegas, which is described as a "putty-liscious gray (creme)" and Fashion on top, which is described as "not so typical taupe shade."

Below Deborah talks about her inspiration for choosing these shades:

For the models makeup, Lisa Butler, took inspiration for the 1930s. She was inspired by the use of color and how often times back in the day only one color was used to complete an entire look. The color used was MAC's Burnt Coral for the eyes, cheeks and lips. She said this was easy to wear and best on redheads or blonds. The look was very modern with an old-style feel. I loved the use of one color for all parts of the face. Often times as makeup artists, we become so accustomed to using many colors that we forgot that sometimes one is all you need. It reminds me of being younger and seeing women use their lipsticks (or rouge if you will) on their cheeks. Just the other day, I used my blush on my eyes, so it's definitely possible and requires a little thinking outside the box. Lisa's suggestion was to find your color. Everyone's color is not going to be burnt coral, but once you find your color, this look is achievable. Another interesting thing I noticed were the eyebrows were left untouched leaving the focus onto the eyeshadow color. Often times in fashion, the look desired is bold, dramatic eyebrows.

Lisa working her magic

I met a super sweet & talented makeup artist, Legend, who had the coolest brush holder. He was definitely "armed with his weapons."

The makeup came out stunning. It really made a impact on the runaway. After makeup was, of course, hair. Redken hair stylist, Nelson Vercher, was inspired by Asian rainforest. He wanted a style that was elegant yet formal. All products used to create the look were from Redken. I loved that the look was wearable. I'm a fan of the up, kind of messy look anyway.
Here are the complete steps to create this look:

1) Start off with wet hair. You then layer three different Redken products. The order in which you apply the products is extremely important, as you want to create the effect of humidity, but in a more glamorous way. 1st - apply a heavy creme Leave-In conditioner by Redken. 2nd - apply a silicone product (Glass 01 by Redken). 3rd - You need a holding product and for this I used Redken Volume 06. You must apply all the product starting at the nape of the neck.

2) Next we want to create "the twist!". Divide the hair into 2 sections, separating the top from the bottom. Work with the bottom section first and roll and roll the twist upwards.

3) Then, switch to the top section of hair, using your fingers, create a claw and rake the top/front of the hair. This will give the hair texture and create a disheveled look, as we do not want it to look too perfect. Roll the twist downwards. So you now have two opposing twists - the top twist is rolled under (facing downwards) and the bottom twist is rolled up (facing upwards).

4) You now want to connect the top and bottom twists. Take hairpins (not bobby pins) and put them all in on the diagonal. You can add a little Redken Glass 01 to the top of the hair for added shine.

& you're done. Not too hard, right?

I was super excited to see the show and who do I spot? ...

The gorgeous, Corrine Bailey Rae! Oh, if only she was singing...

Makeup Beauties: Adele Graces Her First Vogue Cover for British Vogue

Adele has taken the U.S. by storm and there are easy reasons to see why. She's amazingly talented, beyond  gorgeous and continues to break the molds of beauty daily. Her voice can move mountains with songs like, "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You" and she has finally landed her first Vogue cover for British Vogue.

She looks stunning. I'm loving her natural, smokey eye and her signature winged eyeliner. I leave you with my favorite version of her song, "Someone Like You."

Makeup Beauties: Kristen Stewart Graces The Cover Of W Magazine

I decided to start another section of this blog called "MakeUp Beauties" that focuses on one beauty of the moment. I've noticed lately when I look at magazines I can't help but notice how beautiful some of the makeup is and want to share it with all of you. This week I read a copy of W Magazine and was blown away by how beautiful Kristen Stewart looked on the cover and in the spread. W Magazine is one of my favorites of all the fashion magazines. They always have AMAZING photos inside. If you aren't subscribed, you definitely should be.

Gorgeous right?! That winged eyeliner + nude lip definitely caught my eye. Keep up the good work, Kristen. You look better than ever and kudos to your makeup artist.

Fall 2011 Top Makeup Trends

I'm always curious to see where the trends are going with each season. This upcoming Fall it's all about bold red lips, rich metallic lids and the adored winged eyeliner. These looks were a hit at Fall fashion week and are already being seen on popular celebrities.

1. BOLD RED LIPS: A classic favorite of many -- the red lip will always come and go in fashion trends. It's timeless and anyone can wear it. I, myself, have never been a lover of red lips. It is, however, growing on me and I'm opening myself up to other options. The key to a red lip? Finding the right one for you. Red lips are not all created equal and neither are we, so like most colors, you can't expect them to look good on everyone. Some pointers I've learned over the years: If you're fair to medium skin-tone, you should try a blue red shade. A "classic red" will look sunning. If you're medium to darker skin-tones, you should try warmers reds. Trial and error also works great. Go to a few different makeup stores and try different ones on. Don't purchase anything you haven't tried on! Bring your friends and ask their opinions.

Or Scarlett...

Or Miss Taylor

Do you have a favorite RED lip?

2. RICH METALLIC LIDS: The trend of metallic lids is honestly something that only comes around once in a blue moon. I normally see it on the runaways, but never actually see it transition to the streets. I've actually been seeing people wearing this hot trend. Chanel & Sephora have definitely put out ads to get people excited about metallic lids.

Have you ever wore metallic lids?

3. WINGED EYELINER: This is another trend that will always make a comeback. It's sexy, fresh and plays up the eyes, which we all love. My girlfriend describes it as "sexy" and it works on everyone--no matter how old you are. Anyone can pull this off. Most beauty experts won't leave the house without eyeliner and non-beauty experts tend to only wear liner. I love the winged out effect because it reminds me of gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra.

They definitely knew how to do it back then. Here's how our favorites are doing it nowadays...

Could Eva Mendes be anymore more gorgeous?! Geez..

I LOVE the double winged eye. Smokin hot on Kim.

This video seen below is an AMAZING tutorial on dramatic cat eye liner. I definitely recommend everyone to watch it. It's absolutely gorgeous!

I love winged eyeliner.

Are you loving or hating the Fall 2011 trends? Is there a trend you'd love to see happen?
