Top Beauty Looks From The Met Gala 2013

The "Punk: Chaos to Couture" exhibit premiered this past Monday and the Met was filled with the elite of the fashion world and celebrities. The Met Gala is always an exciting time in the fashion and beauty world. It unofficially sets the mark and upcoming trends for the season. Since Punk was the theme this year, we saw many rocking smothering smokey eyes and others that took more of risk. Here's my list of the the beauty looks that won me over.

Look #1:
Smokey eyes paired with nude lips

Seen above are my top 6 smokey eyes and nude lip celebs of the night. When I think punk, I think dark smokey eyes rimmed to black perfection and these ladies didn't disappoint. Emmy Rossum rocked bold eye makeup that was winged out. Makeup artist Jo Baker used NYX products to achieve the look. To create Emmy's dramatic eye, she started with NYX Eye Shadow Base in White then applied NYX Cream Shadow in Chocolate. To add extra definition, she pressed the NYX Roll On Eye Shimmer in Onyx with her finger. More products used include: NYX Nude Matte Shadow in Tryst, NYX Kohl Kajal Black Liner, and NYX Propel My Eyes Mascara. Lips were finished with a soft peach lip (NYX Round Lipstick in Fortune Cookie).

Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez also wore the trend. Taylor was the most daring stepping out of her comfort zone in heavy black eye makeup. Next, Anne Hathaway shocked everyone with her new bleached blond do' (which I love!) Adam Breuchaud for Laura Mercier added blue and purple to her smokey eye.

NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Benjamin Puckey to create the beauty for Solange Knowles. Key products used include Ubangi Eye Paint (NEW for Fall 2013), Brumes Duo Eyeshadow and Het Loo Satin Lip Pencil. Finally, mark Brand Ambassador Ashley Greene was given a sultry look using mark products.

Look #2:
Pink Eyeshadow

NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Jenn Stricher to create this unique beauty look for Emily Blunt. Punk and pink go perfectly together, so I thought the color was a great choice on this particular red carpet. According to Jenn Streicher, "It was Emily's idea to do pink!" since the dress was black and they wanted to incorporate the theme. The makeup looked funky yet glamorous. Key products used were Jardin des Plantes Satin Lip Pencil (on eyes), Desire Powder Blush (on eyes) and Biscayne Park Satin Lip Pencil.

Look #4:
Bright red lips

Miley Cyrus and Rita Oro both wore bright red lips to the Met Gala. Rita Oro's lip looks slighty more orange, but still bright nonetheless. I love how the colors complemented each of their outfits and instantly glammed up their looks.

Look #4:
Dark, sultry lips

Rooney Mara, Minka Kelly and Nicole Riche all opted for more on the lips than the eyes. Rooney went for a dark purple lip and naked eyes, while Minka chose a dark ruby color on the lips for a more romantic feel. Nicole Riche went heavy on the bronzer (not complaining) and deep for the lip shade. I love the risk Nicole took with the hair and thought it paired with the makeup perfectly.

  1. This is a great round-up of the beauty looks at the Met Gala! Most people disappointed in the fashion department, but I did see a lot of great beauty looks. I like the smokey eye + nude lip combo and I loved Rooney Mara's dark lips.
