Backstage At Reem Acra SS13 | New York Fashion Week

Reem Acra designs are always mystical and stunning. Her Spring/Summer 2013 collection had everything you'd want in a runway show. I've been a fan of her designs for years and was ecstatic when I had a chance to interview her backstage at her NYFW show regarding her new fragrance. Stay tuned for that interview in a separate post.

Backstage was full of beautiful models getting ready to wear some of the most amazing dresses I've ever seen. The makeup was striking, and hair was sleek and chic. Hair was done by Rutger and modern ponytails were the look. Rutger used Rene Furterer and Sedu to create the hairstyle. Rutger said "This variation on a ponytail defines itself as clean, sleek with some height on top to give it personality." He began by prepping hair with Rene Furterer's Vegetal Mousse and then teased hair for volume. To slick hair back into a ponytail, he used Sculpting Gel. Sculpting Gel is great at taming flyaways and Styling Wax worked well to keep ponytail controlled. He finished the look with Vegetal Finishing Spray.

Paul McGrath for Cover Girl created the makeup look backstage. The artists used heavy mascara, light caramel eye shadows on eyelids and fiery red lips. The lip was created by mixing a red lip pencil and two lipsticks. The lip wowed on the runway and showed that no matter what your complexion, any woman can rock a red lip.
