I had the fabulous opportunity to attend the launch party for Rebecca Minkoff's collaboration with Baby-G. The party took place at the Back Room which is an awesome speakeasy bar (in-case you don't know what that is: a speakeasy is an establishment that illegally sells alcoholic beverages. Such establishments came into prominence in the US during prohibition. During this time, the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcoholic beverages was illegal throughout the US) Obviously there are no more real speakeasy's bars, but this used to be one and the entrance is hidden. The Mrs. and I arrived super excited to check it out.
Rebecca Minkoffis one of those brands that gets you excited for new launches. I am an avid lover of Rebecca Minkoff's fashion line. She has the amazing gift to combine playful with edgy and help create any look you dream of. She's known for her luxury handbags, accessories and apparel, but this time she's teamed up with Baby-G to create her first watch.
Since this is Minkoff's first watch, she wanted to explore color tones and the use of contrasting materials to create the design. She combined black ion plated stainless steel with resin for the bracelet, and then added a pink champagne dial to give the watch a romantic touch. The Rebecca Minkoff logo appears on the dial and is engraved on the clasp of the watch. The matte black bracelet and pink champagne dial make the watch have a boyfriend like quality with a feminine touch. The watch embodies the tough girl, but still chic and girly.
Minkoff stated, “I’m so thrilled to team up with Baby-G, because like me, they believe in providing women with classics that have a twist. My collaboration watch was designed as the watch for the everyday woman that wants both function and fashion. Watches are a great accessory- I like to wear a rose gold one and it’s just a beautiful piece of jewelry that adds some fun and color to my outfits. Every woman has a go-to-accessory; I designed this Baby-G with this in mind.”
The watch displays Baby-G's signature functionality with shock resistance, 100 meter water resistant structure, an LED light, 48-city world time, five daily alarms, 1/100th second stopwatch, countdown timer, and 12/14 hour formats.
