#NYFW Backstage Beauty: Herve Leger S/S 2014

The look at HervĂ© Leger S/S 2014 was very holiday-by-the-sea, complete with hair that had the appearance of still drying into windblown waves. Makeup was done by Val Garland for Sephora, hair by Laurent Philippon for Bumble and Bumble, and nails by Renee Meyers for OPI

Beachy and summer vacation-inspired, the idea was to make the models look as if they were just coming off of a yacht after a day out on the water.  This season's look was all about confidence, said Val Garland, who used Marc Jacobs Beauty Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation and Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronze to get that summery glow. The eye was smoky and dark in contrast to the glossy pink lip. Nails were also sheer and glossy in an OPI color called Barre My Soul

Also spotted: the classic Bumble and Bumble tonic, as well as Spray de Mode and Thickening Full Form Mousse. Stylists wound sections of hair around 2" barrel T3 curling irons but left an inch or so of ends out for a more natural, undone feel. Hair was then slicked back in the front and then sectioned off with aluminum roller clips to avoid flatness. The result was hair that looked like it was still drying from a late afternoon dip in the ocean.
