Power Nudes - Backstage With Butter London | New York Fashion Week

Let's talk nude - nude nails that is! New York Fashion Week Spring '13 left us with trends to follow for the upcoming season. The most surprising of those trends is easily nude nails. Nails have become a huge part of the fashion and beauty industry, and continues to grow each season. The nude nails created by butter LONDON for New York Fashion Week made a big statement. These flawless nudes showcased how effortless and luxe nude nails can be. Nails were created by Katie Hughes, Global Colour Ambassador for butter LONDON. Nude nails were created for The Row, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, and BROOD.

The Row:
Nail Design: The designer's collection, featuring rich hues such as cranberry, cream and black, was simply elegant.  Katie Hughes created a nail look that spoke to the importance of healthy nails and to the 'less is more' nail trend.  Inspired by the idea of a gorgeous woman that has frequent manicures and perfectly kept nails, the look highlighted the beauty of the natural nail.
Details: Katie Hughes and the butter LONDON backstage team cleaned under the nails and around nail beds before applying Horse Power Nail Fertilizer (to strengthen nails) and a layer of Hardwear P.D. Quick Topcoat for shine.

Nail Design: To balance the designer's mix of bold textures and colors used throughout the collection, Katie Hughes created a mannequin manicure that was simple and luxurious.  The team applied Nail Foundation Flawless Base-coat to smooth our any imperfections and give a natural, uniform color – like BB cream for the nails!
Details: Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat was applied, along with P.D. Quick Topcoat to add a subtle gloss.

Band of Outsiders:
Nail Design: Soft, natural nails complemented the minimal makeup look and the designer's collection, abundant with gorgeous prints, flowing fabrics and military detailing
Details: Katie Hughes gave natural nails texture by adding Matte Finish Topcoat over Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat.

Nail Design: In contrast to the bright, floral patterns used throughout the collection, the designer wanted the nails to look "natural, yet a little awkward." Katie Hughes created a powerful, natural nail using a bespoke, tan opaque lacquer, topped with Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat.  To execute the designer's vision for a nail finish similar to a "naked wall," Katie Hughes matted the nail out even further with the topcoat.
